Lab Power Supplies
Laboratory power supplies (LPS) are high precision, regulated AC-DC output devices that offer a wide range of constant voltage and current. By providing higher current at low voltages and higher voltage at lower currents the LPS line of power supplies allows maximum flexibility in a single power supply.
There are three basic types of LPS:
- LPS Single Output. With single output regulated power source, constant voltage/constant current operation with automatic crossover is produced.
- LPS Dual Output. Similar to the Single output LPS; the dual source LPS has an additional automatic voltage tracking, independent voltage adjustment and the ability to operate both outputs in series in order to provide twice the voltage.
- LPS Triple Output. Triple Output LPS provides all the benefits of the single and double LPS but with an extra power supply source.
Typically, adjustable linear power supplies are used in laboratory power supplies and service shop test equipment. This allows the output voltage to be set over a wide range. Some can be driven by an external signal, for example, for applications requiring a pulsed output. This is preferred because of its pulsed characteristic which is most efficient in any laboratory procedure such as electronic high-powered viewing scopes.
